Types Of Hookah Charcoals

Natural Charcoals

The most traditional style of hookah charcoal is referred to as natural. Natural charcoals are is most often pieces of pyrolized wood, wood dust, or compressed coconut shells. Because natural coals contain no chemical lighting agents, they require a steady source of heat such as a torch or table top burner to ignite.

Quick Light Charcoals

The main benefit of quick light charcoals is convenience and portability. Self igniting coals can be ignited with a lighter, wic, or even a simple match. Made of compressed coal dust, quick-light coals contain an accelerator (typically sulfur) to finish igniting the entire coal from an original spark. Because of the chemical starters in quick light charcoal, it is recommended to let the coal burn for a few minutes so that all of the accelerator has burned off.
